STEP 7: Finishing

Lacing our Buildable Shapes
Using the large side holes, two cards can be laced together like a pair of shoelaces. Start at one end with the cards wrong sides together. Thread a long length of ribbon through the two holes until the halfway point. Take half the ribbon and lace in either every hole (works best with 4 mm ribbon) or every other hole (works best with 7 mm ribbon) until the other end of the cards is reached. Rethread the other half of the ribbon. Lace in the opposite crossover direction in either every hole or every other hole (the empty holes). Depending on the project, you can continue to use the ribbon for lacing more cards together (see the basket or thimble keep) or tie the ends to make a bow at the finishing point.
